Amazon Is Supposedly Producing a Documentary on the Collapse of FTX

Variety, who had previously reported on Hollywood’s interest in the crypto meltdown, revealed the news of the impending series.

You nearly always hear the response “Life is stranger than fiction” to any bizarre anecdote at any drunken weekend gathering.

Although this little witticism is abused frequently, the FTX tale is one of the few occasions when it would be entirely accurate to use it.

Being contacted by insiders

Hollywood executives have already expressed interest in the FTX narrative, according to a Variety report from earlier this month. They are looking for a film to follow in the footsteps of The Big Short and other similar films that explore the shortcomings of traditional finance. A show on FTX’s demise is already in the works, it was confirmed to the entertainment journal two weeks later.

The FTX d ocuseries will be made with the assistance of well-known directors who have previously collaborated with Amazon, according to Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios.

“We are excited to be able to continue our great working relationship with David, Joe, Anthony, and the AGBO team with this fascinating event series. I can’t think of better partners to bring this multifaceted story to our global Prime Video audience.”

Financial misconduct, enigma and fraud

According to Variety, Amazon has hired David Weil and the Russo Brothers to helm the movie. The Russo brothers, who are best known for their work on the Marvel Universe, will produce the rest of the series, with David Weil apparently in charge of writing and producing the pilot.

The Russo brothers acknowledged the FTX case’s complexity and expressed a desire to make the specifics public when contacted for comment.

“This is one of the most brazen frauds ever committed. It crosses many sectors – celebrity, politics, academia, tech, criminality, sex, drugs, and the future of modern finance. At the center of it all sits an extremely mysterious figure with complex and potentially dangerous motivations. We want to understand why.”

Currently, a docuseries format with 8 episodes is planned for the program. It will center on the testimony of reporters who have been monitoring the collapse of FTX and is supposedly based on “insider reporting.”

However, the exact subjects to be covered by the aforementioned reporting are still being kept a secret – as is the name of the series itself.

The preliminary paperwork is already being hashed out, and production of the series is due to commence in the spring of 2023.
